Fight or Flight,
In this project we explored what the feeling of fight or flight looks like.
This was the the first real experiment of trying to create a visual language to represent a persons story. Through our combined skill’s and intuition, we responded to our model (Gemma Lark) who was playing, story telling, hanging off ceiling beams and sometimes being in silence. we placed the timer on for 52 minutes and silently entered a space of exploration together.
Nothing was pre-planned Kim Kneipp and my self packed together bags of resourced items, such as red rope, red tape, blankets, body paint and bow ties Kim made from dis-regarded materials. During the 52 minutes we celebrated in the glory of transformation based on Gemma’s actions, This involved a combined effort of climbing on roofs to pour water over Gamma’s head to watch red hair color trickle down her body, then wrapping her up in blankets and sticky tape.
It felt like a gentle, emotional and silent art jam with a distorted rhythm that was beautiful to listen too. This kind of photo shoot requires allot of trust, to be open enough to create a beautiful image without having a reference, desired result, point or purpose other then using the human body and capability to make art.

on the link up above to view some behind the scenes footage, shot in super 8. This was a shoot Kim Kneipp and I directed,
Titled ” I want this to be bigger than me”.
It was a yearning to transform our skills into an integral collaborative artform.
It was the beginning of our visual journey together and working with the very talented Jess Grenier. ( video/photo artist) Berlin has taken her away for now, But things are and will grow from our project together.

Come all, come all.
Once upon a time, Story Telling carved futures, Lets start by preserving our culture by honoring those brave enough to tell us stories from the soul.
story telling is the thread that reminds us, that we are not alone.
And reminds us not to fear what is inside.
I warmly invite you to the
” Please resist me tour”
I look forward to seeing you and your hair there.
